Bookmaking and writing workshop (7-12 years)

Make a book, then fill it!

In this series of five workshops, children will create their own ‘paper-bag’ book and then fill it with their creative writing and art!

In the first session, children will make a ‘paper-bag book’, which will then be filled with examples of their creative writing, poems, drawings and character profiles. Each of the creative writing sessions will start with a fun warm up activity, followed by a reading (of a poem or excerpt from a book) to inspire. The children will then write their own poem or creative writing piece, which they can use as inspiration to create an illustration or artwork (either in the library if time allows, or at home).

If they would like, children can display their books in the library after the workshops.

This workshop is presented by a Children and Young Adult Librarian with teaching qualifications.

Suitable for ages 7-12 years old.
