Discover how reading can become a pathway to mindfulness in this relaxing and restorative workshop. Mindfulness and reading can complement each other beautifully, helping to reduce stress, encourage a sense of calm and provide an opportunity to slow down and become fully immersed in the present moment.
In this 60-minute mindful reading workshop, you will be guided by meditation teacher Trish, through a series of exercises designed to help you practise being in the moment, without judgement or expectation.
The exercises will include:
- Interacting with the physical qualities of a book, using it as an anchor for meditative focus.
- Listening deeply as Trish reads selected passages from books, encouraging you to focus on the experience of listening and being present.
- Independent mindful reading, where you can choose from a selection of books provided by Trish and practise reading in a way that is deeply immersive and restorative.
Throughout the workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to explore different approaches to mindful reading, practise the techniques for yourself and ask questions along the way.
Books will be provided for you to choose from, so there is no need to bring anything with you. However, you are also very welcome to bring a favourite book if you would like to use it during the workshop. If you prefer audio or e-books, you can bring your own device and headphones.
