Good Reading for Kids features author interviews, independent book reviews, sneak peeks inside books, extracts and podcasts about books for kids from 0-11 years of age. You'll also find fun book related activities and teachers' notes to download.

You can borrow eBooks, eAudiobooks, eComics as well as stream music, movies, TV shows on hoopla. hoopla also offers BingePass which allows unlimited access for seven days of movies, TV series, learning courses, crossword puzzles, podcasts and more with just one borrow.

  • You receive 10 loan credits to borrow items across all formats per month. The 10 loan credits reset on the first day of each month and unused loan credits do not roll over to the next month.
  • Titles are always available, so there is no need to place holds or wait until item is available.
  • You cannot renew items.
  • Loans will automatically return at the end of the lending period.
  • You can stream or download titles to enjoy offline, giving you flexibility in how and when you access your borrowed content.

Loan periods:

  • eBooks, eAudiobooks and eComics - 21 days
  • Movies - 2-3 days
  • TV shows - 3 days
  • Music - 7 days
  • Binge pass - 7 days

For mobile

  1. Download the hoopla Digital app on your mobile device from your App Store.
  2. Open the app and click on the ‘SIGN UP’ button at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Search and select 'Willoughby City Council (NSW)' as your library, then click 'Next'.
  4. Enter your Library card number and password, then click 'Next'. Please make sure to include 'X' when entering your Library card number. 
  5. Read and agree the terms and conditions and privacy policy, then click 'Next'.
  6. Create an account using your email address and password.
  7. Once you have found an item you want to borrow, click on the title and then click the Borrow button.
  8. Your borrowed titles can be viewed or played right after borrowing and can be found under the ‘My hoopla’ tab.
  9. Borrowed titles will be automatically return at the end of the lending period.

For computer

  1. Open the hoopla website.
  2. Click the 'GET STARTED' button.
  3. Search and select 'Willoughby City Council (NSW)' as your library, then click 'Next'.
  4. Enter your library card number and password, then click 'Next'. Please make sure to include 'X' when entering your Library card number.
  5. Read and agree the terms and conditions and privacy policy, then click 'Next'.
  6. Create an account using your email address and password.
  7. Click 'COMPLETE REGISTRATION' to finalise your sign up.
  8. Once you have found an item you want to borrow, click on the title and then click the Borrow button.
  9. Your borrowed titles can be viewed or played right after borrowing and can be found under the ‘My hoopla’ tab.
  10. Borrowed titles will be automatically returned when your lending period is over.  
  • Kanopy is a streaming service that specialised in classic, independent, and educational films and TV shows.
  • Kanopy Kids provides unlimited access to educational and engaging content for all ages.
  • You can watch films and TV shows using Kanopy tickets. You receive 15 Kanopy tickets per month from Willoughby City Library. Tickets reset on the first day of the month, and unused tickets do not roll over to the next month.

For mobile

  1. Download the Kanopy app on your mobile device from your app store.
  2. Click on the ‘Get started' button.
  3. Click 'Find Library', then select 'Willoughby Library Service - New South Wales'.
  4. Enter your Library card number and click 'Next'. Please make sure to include 'X' when entering your Library card number.
  5. Create an account with your name, email address and password. Read and accept the terms of service and privacy, then click 'Sign up'.
  6. Once you have found an item you want to watch, click the item image.
  7. Click the play icon or add to your watchlist.

For computer

  1. Go to the Willoughby Library Service Kanopy page.
  2. Click 'Add a library card'.
  3. Enter your Library card number and click 'Continue'. Please make sure to include 'X' when entering your Library card number. 
  4. Create your account with your name, email address and password. Read and accept the terms of service and privacy policy, then click 'Sign up'.
  5. You will receive a verification email. Follow the link in the email to verify your email address.
  6. Once you have found an item you want to watch, click the item image.
  7. Click the play button or add to your watchlist.

Every book comes with an English translation to help children learn language. New books and languages are released each month, and fun online games are also available to play.
