Urban Rewilding project

Urban rewilding is a novel conservation approach that aims to boost biodiversity and connect people with nature by going beyond planting trees or restoring vegetation, focusing on bringing back viable populations of regionally common, yet locally missing native animals to our cities. Did you know this is happening northern Sydney’s urban backyard?

In this talk we explore this emerging tool through the three lenses of: ecology, genetics and sociology. Come along and learn about an ambitious initiative featuring the 'bogul' (Dharug) – a native bush rat – being restored to our bushland nestled amongst bustling buildings in northern Sydney.
