Local author Ana Scarf sits down with UTS Emeritus Professor of Electrical Engineering, Warren Yates as they discuss Ana’s connection to the ANZACs through her father Major-General Robert Harley Wordsworth’s memoirs. Wordsworth’s military career spanned both World Wars and his memoirs provide a fascinating insight into his time starting as a junior officer in the 1st Light Horse Regiment at Gallipoli, Sinai and Palestine during WWI, as well as into the last days of the British Raj. It shows him as a soldier, statesman, and storyteller.
Ana and Charlotte Scarf, daughter and granddaughter of Wordsworth, have painstakingly edited and organized these memoirs, providing an authentic and refreshing look at a man of service, courage, and opportunity. They will discuss his extraordinary military career, life in India, and his transition to politics after retiring to Tasmania.
This event will provide an engaging conversation between Ana Scarf and Warren Yates, who shares with Ana a family history of service in British India under its colonial administration.
Copies of the novel will be available for purchase at the conclusion of the event.
