Gai-mariagal Festival

Willoughby City Council is proud to be a contributor to the Gai-mariagal Festival. Founded in 2001, the festival celebrates First Nations people and culture in the Northern Sydney region.

The festival occurs each year from Sorry Day, 26 May through to the end of NAIDOC Week, 12 July 2026.

Join us to reflect on the wisdom and strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and to consider how we can help preserve culture, knowledge and connection for the generations to come.

Willoughby City Council is a member of the festival committee and hosts several events to showcase First Nations culture and knowledge and encourage the local community to participate, listen and learn.

Willoughby City Library proudly presents these events for the Gai-mariagal Festival.
