The house was built in 1923 for William Henry Watson. With the assistance of her mother, Miss E. Riach conducted a private school here from the mid 1930s to the mid 1940s. In the 1950s
Dr R. J. Woolcock ran an ear, nose and throat practice on the premises. NSW Premier John Brophy (Jack) Renshaw lived in the house from 1966. Since 1984 the house has been the parsonage of the Northbridge-Castlecrag Parish of the Uniting Church of Australia.
