Fullers Wharf/Chatswood Wharf

Corner of Fullers Road & Millwood Avenue, Chatswood West

There were four wharves on the Lane Cove River bank in the Willoughby Council area: Fullers or Chatswood Wharf was near Fullers Road, with a picnic area called Chatswood to its north. A second wharf and Frankstone picnic ground was at the end of Cullen (now Willandra) Street. By 1890 Whatmore Wharf east of Mowbray Road and Berry’s Wharf (a private wharf) at the Chicago Starch Mills had been built. The Upper Lane Cove Ferry Company offered a passenger and goods ferry service from 1908 to c.1918-23 on two boats, Killara and Native Rose. Another boat was added later.
