Old North Sydney Pigeon Racing Club

Corner Ross Lane & Ross Street, Naremburn

The Old North Sydney Pigeon Racing Club took over a builder’s workshop as club premises in 1913. It operated there until the club disbanded in 2001 due to dwindling numbers. At its peak the club had 32 members. Racing clocks were set up in the clubhouse before each race. Pigeons wore a metal “life ring” indicating which club they belonged to and a rubber ring stamped with the date and time for the race. The Federated Racing Pigeon Association transported the pigeons in a trailer to such distant starting points as Tasmania and South Australia.
