Celebrate Halloween with a movie marathon at Chatswood Library!

This Halloween, hold on to your seats and prepare yourself for some scares (and maybe some laughs) with these creepy cult horror classics.

We’ll be screening the original Night of the Living Dead (1968), and Francis Ford Coppola’s first film, Dementia 13 (1963).

We welcome you to come along dressed in your Halloween finest!

Film schedule:

5:45pm: Night of the Living Dead – rated M – running time approximately 96 minutes.

In this trailblazing horror masterpiece, an army of advancing zombies with a bloodthirsty lust for human flesh force a lone group of human survivors to seek refuge in a farmhouse. Radiation from a fallen satellite has caused the dead to walk. As the small farmhouse community tries to fend off the onslaught of the dead, the tension builds to an apocalyptic conclusion as a petrol pump and pick-up truck offer the only hope of escape.

There have been many imitators, but never anything quite like this! Shot in black and white, and on a miniscule budget, George A. Romero's original zombie classic is still terrifying over fifty years later!

7:30pm: Dementia 13 – rated M – running time approximately 74 minutes.

Dementia 13 is the first film directed by Francis Ford Coppola, who went on to direct films such as The Godfather and Apocalypse Now. In Dementia 13, we follow Louise Haloran who is left widowed after her husband suddenly dies of a heart attack. Worried she will not be able to claim any of her husband's inheritance, she convinces his family he is away on a business trip and joins them at their castle estate on an isolated Irish island.

The family has gathered in remembrance of the 7-year anniversary of their daughter's death. Louise schemes to convince the Haloran family that she can speak with the dead child. However, this plan is interrupted by an axe murderer loose on the estate.

Please note: Both films contain violence and gore. Viewer discretion is advised. You must be 15+ years to attend.
