Join us in conversation with Sandie Docker as bestselling author Claire van Ryn discusses her new novel, 'Where the Birds Call Her Name'.

This is a Talks@Willoughby event.

Award-winning author Claire van Ryn (The Secrets of Huon Wren) is back with her latest novel Where the Birds Call Her Name, a captivating story about a woman’s journey to unearth her mother’s history.

For Saskia, what begins as a simple search through her mother Greta’s belongings soon becomes an exploration of family secrets, leading Saskia and her daughter, Anouk, from Broome to Tasmania.

Set in both the 1960s and the present-day, the story unfolds with Greta’s troubled childhood and family secrets. Mother and daughter uncover the truth behind Greta’s past, as the novel weaves together themes of family, betrayal, self-discovery and the preservation of Australia’s unique ecosystems, particularly its birdlife.

It also reveals people who accomplish remarkable things … even as they behave unkindly to those around them.

Constant Reader Bookstore will be selling copies of the novel at the conclusion of the evening.

This event will be facilitated by Sandie Docke. Sandie is an internationally published author of contemporary women’s fiction, known for her heartwarming stories about love, loss, family, and small-town life.
