Talks@Willoughby presents Michelle See-Tho

Join Michelle See-Tho as she discusses her debut book 'Jade and Emerald'.

Join us for a stirring afternoon Talks@Willoughby event with award-winning author Michelle See-Tho to discuss her debut novel, Jade and Emerald, on Wednesday 14 August from 12:30pm-1:30pm at Chatswood Library.

Told from the point of view of young protagonist Lei Ling Wen, Jade and Emerald is about the joys and pains of growing up, of accepting who you are and where you come from.

Lonely Lei Ling is bored of her demanding after-school schedule and struggles to see eye-to-eye with her strict Chinese-Malaysian mother. She is befriended by elegant socialite Gigi Nu, and is enchanted by the luxury and freedom that suddenly opens up to her. Soon Lei Ling finds herself caught between two lives, and is increasingly at odds with her exasperated mother. When tragedy strikes, Lei Ling discovers long-held secrets that lead her to question everything she thought she knew about the two central women in her life
