2022 is the 2500 anniversary of Confucius’s death and a good time to look back on his life and ideas.

Everyone knows Confucius said something but what was it? And what might it mean?

Join Victor Petersen to hear how Confucius' sayings are still relevant today.

This talk discusses the origins of Confucius jokes, some of the jokes that Confucius actually cracked and the problem of mistranslation, misinterpretation and working out if you are actually getting what he said.

Knowing what Confucius said and how it was interpreted by later generations helps us understand a little more about not only Chinese culture but also the traditional cultures of Japan, Korea and Vietnam and that gives us a better insight into what is happening in Asia today.
